Stills from Matthew Barney’s Cremaster Cycle… keep these in mind when watching the Lady Gaga “Bad Romance” video below. If you’ve seen all five Cremasters, also think about the scenes in the Hungarian bath house from Cremaster 5, the corpse parts in Cremaster 2… but most of the stills I’ve posted represent 1 and 3…
(it is SUCH a good thing I’m going to start working some this week and have a huge feast to cook. i’m going a little bit crazy)
Björk performed a semi-improv number called “Nameless” a few times throughout her 2003 tour. Each version sounds a little different. Björk brought “Nameless” back from the tour, and, with the help of Leila Arab, looped and edited it to create the track “Storm” for the soundtrack to Matthew Barney’s Drawing Restraint 9, in which she also stars.
made from vaseline. from the sculpture companion series to the films.
if you haven’t experienced The Cremaster Cycle, you have no idea what you are in for. The are copies floating on the web, but the only way to see it is in the cinemas. Most of the cycle has and will never be released on DVD - however, a small segment from 3 entitled ‘The Order’ is available. A life changing film art experience.
